Our Community

Our Legacy
While our building is 25 years old, the site of Benedictine Living Community-Osseo has been a special place for much longer. Benedictine Osseo stands where the Church of St. Louis, Osseo’s first church and Hennepin County’s first Catholic church west of the Mississippi, was built in 1856. In 1864 a new church was built on the site and re-named the Church of St. Vincent de Paul.
In 1989, St. Vincent de Paul relocated across the street, making room for the development of Benedictine Osseo. The original church steeple remains and is featured on our front lawn. With a recent renovation, stained glass from the first St. Vincent de Paul church now graces two of our front windows. These historic relics are a daily reminder of our rich Catholic heritage, and we’re grateful to continue serving area seniors.

A Charming Location
Benedictine Osseo is located in charming and historic downtown Osseo. Downtown’s Central Avenue is lined with quaint restaurants, coffee shops and antiques stores. Residents of Benedictine Osseo can stroll to the local park, pick up a new book at the nearby library or stop by the community center for senior game night (Tuesdays and Thursdays!), all just steps from their front door.
