senior basic care in north dakota

Just the Care You Need for the Independence You Want

Similar to assisted living, basic care is a level of service provided in our North Dakota communities for those who qualify. In keeping with our values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice, basic care is designed to provide assistance based on individual needs and preferences, while empowering the highest level of independence possible.

Residents of our basic care facilities may receive assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and grooming, as well as medication management. Recreational, therapeutic, and social activities are offered to encourage resident engagement and interaction.

Basic care is currently offered at Benedictine Living Community-Bismarck in Bismarck, ND; Benedictine Living Community-Ellendale in Ellendale, ND; and Benedictine Living Community-Wahpeton in Wahpeton, ND.

Frequently Asked Questions

Basic care, similar to assisted living, is ideal for people who can still live independently, but need extra assistance with daily tasks, including taking medications, preparing meals or doing housework and laundry. Our trained, caring staff members provide individualized support designed to help each resident maintain their highest level of independence.

The state of North Dakota does have a Basic Care Assistance Program. To be eligible for this program, a resident must meet certain criteria defined by the state, including being eligible for Medicaid. For more information and to determine whether you may be eligible for assistance, visit the state’s Basic Care Assistance Program Frequently Asked Questions web page.

Your guests — grandchildren, family members and friends — are always welcome to visit you in your home, and they’re more than welcome to enjoy our recreational facilities, dine and participate in activities with you while visiting.

Most of our communities, including those with basic care, are pet-friendly and welcome dogs, cats, birds and fish upon approval through our Pet Admissions Program. Be sure to ask about the pet policy, approval process, and pet-friendly areas of the community when you visit. All our communities accept service dogs and certified companion animals.

While many residents who still drive do bring their cars, the transportation options provided by our communities usually make a car unnecessary.
