The care and education children receive in the first five years of life is crucial to their social, emotional and academic development. Learning and growing in an atmosphere of love, respect, diversity and acceptance puts them well on their way to being happy and well adjusted. That’s why we offer developmental preschool for children ages 3 months through 5 years.
Our preschool is not simply a daycare or a child care service. Benedictine preschool is a year-round program in which children are exposed to a creative curriculum designed to prepare them for kindergarten by enhancing creativity as well as social and problem-solving skills.
Teachers trained in early childhood education lead age-appropriate activities in language arts, math readiness, science, dramatic play, cooking, art, music and creative movement. The curriculum is further enhanced by field trips.
A unique component of our program is the opportunity for an intergenerational community with children interacting with the seniors who reside at Benedictine Crookston. Intergenerational activities like singalongs, plays and cookie baking are positive, enriching experiences for both children and seniors. Our preschool also sustains a climate of diversity in which children from all walks of life with a variety of needs are encouraged to grow in love and to respect the uniqueness of other children and the adults in their lives.
