Remember the Belleville You Grew Up With? Explore Our Hometown Then and Now

The Belleville you remember may look different today, but the stories behind its streets, neighborhoods and familiar places are still worth sharing. Perhaps you remember a favorite downtown shop, a gathering place or a neighborhood that has changed over the years. On November 4, Benedictine Living Community-At The Shrine invites Belleville-area seniors, families and neighbors to revisit those memories during Then and Now: Belleville, Illinois.
A Belleville History Event Worth Sharing
Presented by the St. Clair County Historical Society, this special community event takes place Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Benedictine Living Community-At The Shrine, 726 Community Drive in Belleville, Illinois. The presentation will explore our hometown’s rich history and how it has grown and changed over time.
What Will You Remember?
The afternoon offers opportunities to:
● Rediscover Belleville’s past through a presentation about our city’s history.
● See how our hometown has changed and reflect on the places you remember.
● Share family stories with a friend, child or grandchild who may know a different Belleville.
For adult children, hearing a parent’s memories can reveal stories that might otherwise go untold. For longtime residents, it’s an opportunity to revisit the hometown they helped shape.
