At Benedictine Ellendale, every day in our Memory Care neighborhood is guided by compassion, flexibility and connection. While no two days ever look exactly the same, each one is filled with meaningful moments: from shared smiles over morning coffee to quiet walks and gentle music in the afternoon.
Because our residents’ needs can change from day to day, our approach is designed to meet them exactly where they are. Our Memory Care team adjusts the daily rhythm based on how residents are feeling—ensuring that every activity, meal and interaction supports comfort, dignity and joy.
Meaningful Moments, Big and Small
Each day typically includes one group activity that encourages socialization and engagement. Whether it’s singing along to favorite tunes, crafting or reminiscing about fond memories, these activities help nurture connection and spark joy.
Beyond group time, much of the day is spent engaging in one-on-one interactions that make all the difference. Team members might read a book aloud, offer a calming hand massage, enjoy a walk together or paint nails. These small acts of care build trust and brighten spirits.
Residents also have the opportunity to take part in larger community events whenever possible, such as church services, musical performances and holiday celebrations. These moments bring energy and excitement to the unit while keeping residents connected to the broader Benedictine family.
Compassionate Care, Every Step of the Way
Our Memory Care unit is supported by a dedicated team, including two compassionate CNAs who assist with daily care and dining. A unit manager typically helps lead and support the team, as well. While our staffing model may adjust from time to time, one thing never changes, our commitment to delivering care with patience, respect and a personal touch.
Our care approach focuses on providing gentle reminders, guidance and support for each resident’s unique needs. Many of our nurses, wellness staff and managers have completed dementia-capable care training, helping them create an environment where residents feel understood, valued, and safe.
