When is outpatient rehab needed?

As directed by a physician, outpatient rehab is useful when injury, surgery, accident or illness has compromised functional abilities, and when overall physical health presents no need for residential care. By following a regimen of individually focused treatment, adult and senior patients can improve endurance and build confidence while rehabilitating their functional skills.

A good candidate for outpatient rehab is:

  • Medically stable after a medical event such as a stroke, hip or other fracture, or an injury related to a fall or illness
  • Able to live in own residence without risk of complications
  • Mobile and ambulatory
  • Needing to relearn skills, such as speaking — or learn new skills, such as walking with a brace
