The Nurse Behind the Smiles: Why Charity is Changing the Memory Care Experience in St. Paul

There’s a difference between being cared for and being known.
When you’re navigating the journey of memory loss — whether as a caregiver or a loved one — what you want most isn’t fancy brochures or a list of amenities. You want to know that someone will see your mom. Know your dad. And treat them like more than a diagnosis.
That’s why Charity shows up every day.
She’s the RN dedicated to our memory care neighborhood here at Cerenity Marian. Monday through Friday, 10:30am to 7pm—she’s here with our residents. She’s not just managing care. She’s living alongside them.
And if you ask her why she does it? She’ll tell you: “Because this is where I’m meant to be.”
Charity’s career spans more than 30 years—from home care and hospice to long-term care and chemical health. But memory care has always been her calling. “Dementia can be scary and painful,” she says. “But with individualized planning, real relationships and a warm community… people can keep living fully. With dignity. With joy.”
Even with dancing. Charity is known for starting spontaneous dance parties in the hall. She laughs easily. She sings badly (on purpose). She gets residents moving, smiling and feeling seen.
Her goal? “Make sure every resident on this floor smiles at least once each day. And every family member feels just as cared for.”
If you’re searching for memory care in the St. Paul area, and are looking for something different, come meet Charity. Feel the heart in the hallway. See the care that doesn’t just meet the standard but raises it. Schedule a tour today.
