Supporting the Whole Person – Benedictine’s Spiritual Care

Interior of the chapel at Benedictine Living Community-Duluth.

A key component of Benedictine holistic care is the spiritual care professionals. These staff members extend the gift of Hospitality beyond resident advocacy and education to provide spiritual resources which help residents and staff focus on transcendent meaning, purpose and value. They are trained to respectfully respond to the values, beliefs and religious needs of every individual.

Listening to Your Needs to Provide the Support you Deserve

Spiritual care professionals offer attentive listening who will meet individuals where they are at in their own faith and personal journey. They are someone who will encourage individuals to discover meaning and purpose, an advocate who will help interpret medical language, serve as a peacemaker, and keep individuals connected with their religious community. They will stay with individuals and their loved ones as they face difficult decisions and respect individual beliefs and offer support in those beliefs.

Spiritual care may or may not include religious care. Benedictine spiritual care professionals provide spiritual and emotional support to  residents, their family members, associates and visitors.
