On the Move

Whether it is in a fast-moving kitchen or on the paintball field, McCoy Ritchie likes to be on the move.

Meet McCoy: he is the sous-chef on the Benedictine Westwood culinary team. As a sous-chef he is second in command in the kitchen and moves through this day ordering, scheduling and managing the team. He also likes to stop moving and learn from our residents and build relationships with them. “This is the best part of my job,” he said.

In addition to cooking, McCoy has several passions which include moving through the snow on his fat tire bike or riding his road bike around the roads in the Danbury area. He shares this passion with his long-time girlfriend, Taylor. Together, they move to the beat of their two dogs, a Bully Pit named Beau and sweet Daisy, a Lab-Pittie mix.

Being a competitor all his life, McCoy grew up practicing martial arts and moving the puck on a hockey rink. He also is on the move on the paintball field (indoors and outdoors). The past two years, McCoy competed with his team at the ICPL Windy City Classic in Chicago. The games are fast-paced and players are always on the move. McCoy added, “The key to winning is to move faster than the others!”
