Long-time Staff at Heart of Benedictine Garrison

At the heart of Benedictine Living Community-Garrison is the deep commitment and compassion of its staff. Among them are individuals who have devoted decades of their lives to caring for older adults. Their loyalty and dedication are the foundation of Benedictine Garrison’s spirit and the quality care it provides every day to its residents, called “neighbors.”
One of these associates is Sue Seidler, who has worked for 26 years in the Life Enrichment and Spiritual Care departments. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), she is known not only for bringing joy, purpose and compassion through enriching activities and spiritual support, but also for stepping in to assist fellow CNAs when needed. “The staff and neighbors are why I keep working here. I don’t know why I would ever retire!” states Seidler.
Also inspiring is Angie Fitzgerald, a CNA who has devoted 35 years to caring for neighbors. Having spent many of those years working in the dementia care unit, she brings expertise and compassion to her role. Her experience in dementia care continues to guide her work today, providing comfort and continuity to neighbors and families alike. “The neighbors are special to me. A neighbor will give me a hug and it brightens my day,” Fitzgerald says.
Tammy Huston is another remarkable associate, who has been a cornerstone of the community for 36 years as both a CNA and CMA (Certified Medication Aide). Her consistency, skill and caring presence have left a lasting impact on many neighbors. She embodies the experience, trust and reliability that families seek when choosing care for their loved ones. States Huston, “We’re faith-based, caring, compassionate people. I love taking care of the neighbors because I love them.”
And in the Culinary department, Pam Kolden is a beloved and familiar face, having served as a homemaker for 26 years. Her presence in the dining areas brings not only nourishment but a sense of home. Her years of service speak volumes about her commitment to creating a warm, welcoming environment. “It’s great to work in a place where there is such a wealth of knowledge available,” Kolden explains. “It’s so fun to sit and visit with our neighbors and hear their stories. We have amazing neighbors here!”
Other long-time associates are Sonja Diffely, who has worked in the Culinary department for 25 years and uses her spare time to make craft materials and plant raised garden beds for neighbors to enjoy; and Heather Bostow, who has served as a CNA/CMA for 23 years and also assists with transportation taking neighbors to and from medical appointments.
Combined, these six associates have dedicated a total of 171 years of service to Benedictine Garrison. These long-time staff members do more than perform tasks—they build meaningful relationships, share valuable insights, and mentor new team members. Their years of wisdom and heartfelt care is felt throughout the community.
“At Benedictine Garrison, we believe that longevity in our team isn’t just a number—it’s a testament to passion, purpose and love for the work we do. These associates exemplify what it means to be the heart of our community,” explains Scott Foss, executive director of Benedictine Garrison. “Their legacy is one of extraordinary dedication, and we are grateful for the strength and experience they bring to our home. Their contributions have shaped who we are today, and we are better for it.”
