Celebrating the Feast of St. Benedict – July 11, 2026

On July 11, we celebrate the Feast of St. Benedict, whose enduring wisdom continues to inspire people seeking a life of faith, purpose and community. More than 1,500 years after he wrote The Rule of St. Benedict, his teachings remain a source of guidance for navigating daily life with balance, compassion and hope.

The Feast of St. Benedict offers an opportunity to reflect on how we can bring his spirit into our own lives. Whether through prayer, acts of service, extending hospitality to a neighbor, or simply being present to those around us, we participate in the Benedictine tradition of building peace and fostering meaningful relationships.

As we honor St. Benedict today, we give thanks for his lasting legacy and for the countless ways his teachings continue to guide individuals, families and communities. May his example inspire us to live each day with greater faith, wisdom and compassion.

Prayer for the Feast of St. Benedict

Gracious God, inspired by the hospitality

and wisdom of St. Benedict,

help us to receive every guest, resident,

co-worker, and stranger

as we would receive Christ himself.

Grant us discernment so we may see your divine presence in the ordinary moments of our day.

May our work create places of welcome,

where fear is cast out by love.

Through our dedicated service, may we offer moments of grace to all we encounter.

May we labor with steady hands and open hearts to offer “every kindness” as St. Benedict taught.

We ask this in the spirit of peace

that Benedict so cherished.

Amen.
