Prayer for the Feast of St. Scholastica

On Feb. 10, Benedictine honors Saint Scholastica (c.480-543), sister of Saint Benedict of Nursia. Faithful to the monastic vision shared with her brother, Scholastica is remembered for founding a convent near Piumarola, Italy, living out the Rule that would shape Western monastic life for centuries.
Saint Scholastica’s story comes through St. Gregory the Great’s Dialogues, which recount her deep spiritual bond with Benedict and their final meeting before her death.
On this, her feast day, Benedictine remembers her legacy of prayer, devotion and spirituality and the founders of Benedictine, the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery, Duluth, Minn.
Prayer for the Feast of St. Scholastica
Loving God, in whose hear all find a home.
Your daughter, St. Scholastica, knew how to open her heart and treasure her relationships.
She knew that time spent in communion with others is sacred.
Through her example and prayers, may we learn to open our hearts and provide welcome to all who are in need of our loving presence.
Help us to see that the time we spend with our loved ones, our colleagues and all whom we serve is precious and full of grace,
because You are with us in each encounter.
We ask this in Christ’s name, Amen.
