Honoring the Feast of St. Benedict – July 11

On July 11, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Benedict, a man whose wisdom and faith continue to shape the heart of our mission. Born in the 6th century near Rome, Benedict left behind a life of privilege to seek a deeper connection with God through simplicity, prayer, and community.
His search for spiritual purpose led him to write The Rule of St. Benedict, a guide for living in community rooted in humility, balance, and service. Though written over 1,500 years ago, the Rule remains deeply relevant today—offering a way of life centered on compassion, patience, and care for others.
At Benedictine, the values St. Benedict embraced—faith, simplicity, and a commitment to community—continue to guide our work in senior care and beyond. On his Feast Day, we give thanks for his lasting legacy and offer a prayer in his honor, inspired by the example he set for living with purpose and grace.
Prayer for the Feast of St. Benedict
Gracious God, whose heart is love — embrace, center and ground us in your heart.
Pour out Your healing Spirit of Peace to transform our fears, indifference and divisions into unity of purpose and ministry.
As St. Benedict taught his monks to keep their hearts open, so may our hearts be open to each other and all we serve.
In Your Holy Name,
Amen.
