The Most Reverend Bernard Hebda, Archbishop of St. Paul/ Minneapolis, visits Benedictine Shakopee
March 17, 2023The Most Reverend Bernard Hebda, Archbishop of St. Paul/Minneapolis Diocese, recently visited The School Sisters of Notre Dame to welcome them to their new home at Benedictine Living Community-Shakopee.
Archbishop Hebda began his visit with the Sisters who are residing at Benedictine St. Gertrude’s and The Gardens. There he had an opportunity to learn of their various backgrounds, ministries and home parishes. A special thank you went to Sister Magdala Winter for her 75 years in the ministry. In addition, Archbishop Hebda celebrated with several sisters who have more than 60 years in the ministry. His visit concluded with a blessing and photos.
He then went to Benedictine Windermere Way to welcome and greet the 96 Sisters who have moved into their new apartments. He joined their evening meal, sharing fellowship and concluding with a time of prayer.
Archbishop Hebda enjoyed meeting with small groups of the sisters and learning of their home parishes, the services they had done throughout their ministry and the ministry they looked forward to in their new community.
Archbishop Hebda shared his appreciation of the Sisters of their ministry work that has covered decades, across many continents and touched the lives of thousands. He said he was honored to welcome the Sisters to their new home at Benedictine Living Community-Shakopee and the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
