From Tourist to Duluthian

Before moving to Duluth in 2013, Lori McPherson and her husband, Jason enjoyed visiting the Northland. “We love the outdoors. We fish, boat, canoe and trail ride in our off road side-by-side,” Lori shared. They were very excited when Jason’s job brought them to live in Duluth.

Lori’s career journey shaped her for her success with Benedictine. She started school to be a nurse but her path changed. She worked in the travel industry, including being a flight attendant. She also did property management. When they moved to Duluth, Lori worked as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in home care. She loved helping her folks perform day-to-day activities and making sure they got to their appointments timely. Through this job, she became very familiar with Benedictine. Last summer as her patient load changed, she came to our hiring fair and spotted a position for wellness assistant. “It just worked out and I haven’t looked back,” Lori said.

Lori brings her organization, event planning and energy to her position each day. Her smile is infectious; yes you can see it in her eyes and under her mask; her bubbly personality and “get it done’ attitude are welcomed attributes in her role. She says the residents of Westwood Terrace are so appreciative of her work and they give it back with their laughter, smiles and appreciation. Lori says, “If I ever feel like I am having a bad day…I go to work, they bring me JOY!”

Pretty cool for a tourist turned Duluthian.
