Benedictine Opens Benedictine Windermere Way

Benedictine Windermere Way, newly built senior living community in Shakopee, Minnesota, is adding to the well-known Benedictine Living Community-Shakopee, which also includes Benedictine St. Gertrude’s and Benedictine Gardens, offering a full continuum of care and new lifestyle choice for active seniors in Shakopee, Minnesota.

Benedictine is pleased to announce the completion of their newest senior living community, Benedictine Windermere Way, located near the intersection of 17th Avenue West and Marystown Road, at 1705 Windermere Way in Shakopee, Minnesota. Benedictine, previously known as Benedictine Health System, headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota, is one of the largest Catholic senior care organizations in the United States, with elder care communities across the Midwest. Their commitment to the mission in Shakopee to help seniors live full and healthy lives, beginning with the construction of the St. Francis Campus, continues to grow in providing safe, quality care and lifestyle choices.

On Nov. 2, the community opened, and residents began moving into the beautiful building. The Benedictine brand takes an active approach in helping seniors live full and healthy lives and is reflected in this remarkably designed community, providing many opportunities for seniors to live their best lives.

“Benedictine has reinvested in our close connection with the seniors of Shakopee to develop this unique and innovative community. Special attention to design was placed on offering individual choice and meeting the changing needs of the seniors we serve. The care provided at this community is a commitment of our mission and core values in Shakopee that started with St. Gertrude’s and the Gardens. Windermere Way will be a place of hospitality and community, and our design is meant to embrace that intention.” Andy Opsahl, Benedictine Vice President Business Development.

Benedictine Windermere Way provides unmatched, industry-leading amenities and services to residents in a variety of stylish, independent, assisted living, and memory care settings on a beautiful campus. Residents are introduced to a culinary experience curated by an executive chef and a wide array of enriching wellness activities designed to nurture what they decide is their best life: independence, individualism, wellness, life-long learning, and creativity. The choice of activities engage and empower residents as they choose the activities they spend time on, which can include fitness classes, wellness activities, strength training, gardening, art classes, book clubs, educational guest speakers, live music, sports, Catholic and multi-denominational worship, and other on-site and off-site programs.

“I see the completion of Windermere Way as an exciting and important commitment to this wonderful community,” said John Padjen, executive director, Benedictine Living Community-Shakopee. “In union with our existing facilities – St. Gertrude’s and The Gardens – we now offer Shakopee’s first senior living continuum of care. This affords us the unique ability to serve our seniors across a spectrum of service offerings tailored specifically to their needs.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to deepen our ties here in Shakopee and look forward to serving the community for many years to come.”

Plans to celebrate the opening of the new Benedictine Windermere Way have been postponed. The safety of the community, participants, residents, and staff is at the front of Benedictine’s decision. Events and celebratory, responsible, and safe gatherings will be announced spring 2021.

Anticipation of continued isolation has many families and seniors stretching for sustainable support as we enter the holiday season and the New Year.
