Neal Buddensiek, MD, HMDC, CMD, Obl.SB

Chief Medical Officer

Neal Buddensiek, MD, CMD, Obl.SB, serves as chief medical officer for Benedictine where he consults on medical care delivery and coordinates activities with community medical directors. He serves as medical director of three Benedictine Living Communities including Benedictine Regina, Hastings, Minn.; Benedictine Red Wing, Minn.; and Cerenity Senior Care – Humboldt, St. Paul, Minn. He serves as hospice medical director of two hospices that serve Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. He holds medical licenses in multiple Midwestern states.

His passion is caring for the medically complex geriatric population and building high-functioning, interdisciplinary care teams that live out the culture of continuous quality improvement and clinical excellence.

Past positions include hospitalist at Abbott Northwestern Hospital; transitional care unit (TCU) medical director, Allina SeniorCare Transitions;
and TCU attending, Abbott Northwestern internal medicine residency program.

Active in the medical community, Buddensiek is a diplomate, National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, a certified hospice medical director, Hospice Medical Director Certification Board and a certified nursing home medical director, The Society of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. He also serves as a medical expert witness nationally. He holds memberships in the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine, American Geriatrics Society and Minnesota Association of Geriatric Inspired Clinicians.

Buddensiek is board certified in Internal Medicine. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minn.,
and received his medical training at Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Neb., and Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s internal medicine residency program, Minneapolis, Minn.
