Sandy Miller, Owatonna, honored with 2023 Benedictine Board Member of the Year Award
Benedictine recently honored Sandy Miller, Owatonna, Minn., as a 2023 Board Member of the Year at the Benedictine Annual Conference in Duluth, Minn.
The Benedictine Board Member of the Year award recognizes an individual serving or has served on a Benedictine Living Community board, who demonstrates exceptional leadership and brings the Benedictine Mission and Core Values to life in extraordinary ways.

On behalf of Sandy Miller, Lisa Kern, executive director, Benedictine Living Community-Owatonna, accepted the 2023 Board Member of the Year Award from Sister Joan Marie Stelman, OSB, Benedictine senior vice president, Mission Integration.
In her nomination, it was noted that Sandy Miller has been an instrumental member of the Benedictine Living Community-Owatonna Board of Directors since 2015. According to Lisa Kern, executive director of Benedictine Owatonna, “Sandy believes in the Benedictine Mission and Vision with a heart for the residents. A sincere and compassionate leader, she places a priority on the residents’ needs and advocates, first and foremost for care that is best for the residents.”
Miller is also known for generously giving of herself at Benedictine Owatonna. Miller is a retired pastor who leads Protestant worship services for residents every month. While leading the services, she will also play the piano, sing and deliver the message. “She is purposeful in fostering genuine connections with the residents, letting them know that they are seen and heard,” Kern added. “Sandy is a blessing to our community.”
