On Feb. 10, give from your heart to enhance resident care at Benedictine LaMoure

Benedictine Living Community-LaMoure is participating in its first Giving Hearts Day, an annual fundraising event begun in 2008 by Fargo-based Dakota Medical Foundation as a unique fundraising concept around Valentine’s Day, to ask people to show affection not only to people they love but to local charities, too.

In the decade-plus since, the event has gone on to become one of the longest-running and most successful giving days in the country raising funds y to nurture the elderly, feed the hungry, and educate tomorrow’s leaders. . Benedictine-LaMoure hopes to raise $6,000 during Giving Hearts Day to support the purchase and installation of a new call lightsystem. The new system will enhance communication and response time when its elderly residents need assistance.

COVID-19 has been challenging for nonprofits statewide, which have not been able to plan in-person fundraising events as in the past, while the need for donations and program funding remains high. This has been true for Benedictine-LaMoure, which has been unable to hold its largest annual fundraiser – the popular Backcountry Raffle & Bazaar – in person for the past two years.

“We are so very grateful for our donors as their gifts are important in helping us in our non-profit, faith-based mission to provide the highest-quality, compassionate care for our residents and tenants,” said Kelsey Peterson, executive director of Benedictine-LaMoure. “We hope our community will continue support our efforts to enhance care for our residents and loved ones while enabling them to age in place in the community they call home.”
