Motion Energy

Motion energy is energy stored in the movement of objects. The faster they move, the more energy is stored.

Movement = Housing Director, Emily Schaefer. Emily was born in Minnesota, relocated with her family to Texas, then back to Minnesota.

Starting her professional education path, she attend and graduated from the University Minnesota– Twin Cities with a degree in Clinical Psychology. Keeping things moving, while in college for six months she studied in Sydney, Australia at Australian Catholic University, North Sydney Campus. She pursued her masters and graduated from St. Mary’s University. To create even more energy, she currently is working on her PhD in Gerontology. Emily shared, “I am fascinated with aging studies.”

Emily started her healthcare career as a certified nursing assistant, did an internship as a healthcare administrator and director of resident engagement for an assisted living community. Last August, we were fortunate to name Emily as housing director.

Emily is a member of the Gerontological Society of America, the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been selected to join the Minnesota State University-Mankato’s Women in Leadership Program advisory board.

Just prior to starting with Benedictine, Emily and her fiancé Peter purchased a home on Big Lake in Cloquet. Being on the lake offers so much to do for Emily and Peter. They like to boat, icefish, run the dogs, do yardwork…Emily just never sits still.
